many years ago I foolishly put blue tac behind a painting to stabilise it. The blue tac is now very hard. I have tried to gently chip away at it, however chipped the plaster. Two blobs about 1-2 cm each. How can I remove it without damaging the painted plaster wall. Thanks in anticipation.

You probably can’t as it now probably adheres more strongly to the paint than the paint does to the plaster. But if anything will work, soak it in acetone somehow – perhaps a soaked rag held in place against the blue tac somehow. If you can leave it for half an hour it might help it peel away
