We had false window panes, using aluminium strips & double sided tape, on our windows, which we have now removed. We seem to have removed most, if not all, of the interior marks but the exterior windows still show the pattern of the panes. We have used a variety of chemicals, none of which seem to have helped. I believe that the residue is possibly aluminium oxide, as water would have been trapped between the aluminium and the tape.
What are your thoughts and remedies?
Thanks & regards
Dave

Well, the good thing is that glass is pretty much impervious to chemical attack. And as it happens it dissolves in both strong bases and strong acids. Try oven cleaner on it. If that doesn’t doesn’t work use hydrochloric acid from the hardware store (about 1:1). Make sure you wear gloves
